As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and consistency. You will play an important role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by combining technical expertise with attention to detail and efficient kitchen operations.
This role supports the culinary team at one of our properties in Syria and requires a chef who is passionate about authentic Japanese cuisine and committed to delivering a memorable guest experience.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Prepare sushi, sashimi, nigiri, maki, and other Japanese dishes to established recipes and presentation standards.
Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled in accordance with food safety standards.
Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation throughout each service.
Prepare and organize mise en place to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Engage with guests during service, delivering an interactive culinary experience.
Ensure the highest standard of food presenatation presentation.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation to minimize waste.
Inspect the quality of seafood, vegetables, rice, and other ingredients before use.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation at all times.
Comply with all food safety, HACCP, and health and hygiene regulations.
Work closely with the kitchen team to develop seasonal or promotional menu items when required.
Assist in training and supporting junior kitchen colleagues where appropriate.
Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained in good working condition.
Support overall kitchen operations and perform other culinary duties as required.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef in a hotel, upscale restaurant, or Japanese dining concept.
Strong knowledge of traditional Japanese culinary techniques, ingredients, and food preparation methods.
Demonstrated ability to prepare sushi, sashimi, nigiri, maki, and other Japanese specialties to a high standard.
Good understanding of food safety, HACCP, and hygiene standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to maintain consistency under pressure during busy service periods.
Culinary qualification or equivalent professional training is preferred.
Previous international hospitality experience is an advantage.
Willingness to relocate to Syria.
